Bird hits broiler farm in Deurne, Netherlands

Avian influenza has been confirmed at a broiler farm in Deurne, the Netherlands.
According to NOS, 162,000 chickens are being culled there to prevent the virus from spreading.
Three other poultry operations surround the farm within a one-kilometer radius and seven more within three kilometers.
Deurne is located approximately 10 kilometers from Ysselsteyn in Limburg, where authorities detected avian flu on a poultry farm for the third time in one week.
A transport ban has been imposed immediately within a 10-kilometer radius of the infected Deurne farm. Within this zone, 46 poultry farms are located, some of which were already in a restricted area following recent outbreaks in Ysselsteyn and Veulen.
To limit the spread of avian influenza, a nationwide mandatory housing order for poultry farms has been in effect across the Netherlands since October.
