Bird flu detected in northern Germany poultry farm
Germany has reported a case of highly pathogenic H5N1 bird flu on a poultry farm in the northern region, contributing to the surge of cases across Europe, CNBC reported.
The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) confirmed the outbreak, which resulted in the death of five poultry in a flock of 24,000 in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, east of Hamburg.
This recent incident adds to a series of bird flu cases in European countries, with outbreaks detected in the Netherlands, Italy, Croatia, and Hungary. Bird flu, known for its significant impact on the poultry industry, often emerges during autumn and winter, leading to the culling of millions of birds to contain the spread.
