Gold Coin China expands feed mill capacity with new facility in Yunnan, China

Gold Coin China, a subsidiary of Pilmico Foods Corp and Gold Coin Group, has increased its feed mill capacity with the completion of a US$23.1 million state-of-the-art facility in Yunnan, China, Manila Standard reported.

The feed mill, the largest of its kind in Yunnan Province, is equipped with advanced technology and automation equipment to enhance processes and optimise efficiency.

"The launch of this new facility in Yuxi, Yunnan Province, is a testament to our commitment to expanding our presence in key markets through investments in more efficient facilities across the region. For this feed mill specifically, we worked with key stakeholders to embed some of the latest technology and automation equipment to enhance our processes and optimise feed mill efficiency," said Pilmico and Gold Coin Group president and chief executive Tristan Aboitiz.

The Yuxi-based feed mill operates with an initial capacity of 150,000 metric tonnes (MT) per year, with plans to expand to 290,000 MT in the near term and a potential maximum capacity of 500,000 MT.

The facility, which commenced commercial production in June 2024, is expected to produce 75,000 MT this year.

The feed mill will cater to a wide range of species including swine, poultry, aqua, ruminants, and premix, allowing the company to reach an even broader customer base. It is the second of its kind in Gold Coin China's operations and is expected to set new standards for feed mill production in the region.

"This mill is the second of its kind in our China-based operation. This mill will ensure that our customers are provided with the highest quality feed across multiple categories," Aboitiz said.

The Yunnan feed mill is part of the Aboitiz Group's strategic moves to strengthen its feed mill capacity in the Asia Pacific region, alongside the upcoming 200,000 MT feed mill in Long An, Vietnam.

Pilmico and Gold Coin Group is a leading integrated agribusiness and food company in the Asia Pacific region.
