Iran desires for agriculture MoU with Malaysia, according to Malaysian minister

Malaysia's Agriculture and Food Security Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, said that Iran wishes to establish a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the country in the field of agriculture and has sent the first draft to the ministry.

Mohamad expressed strong confidence that the MoU would provide a solid foundation for enhancing cooperation between Malaysia and Iran in the field.

"I am very pleased and look forward to this cooperation as it will bring significant benefits to both countries," he said in a Facebook post. He added the cooperation was expressed by Iranian Ambassador to Malaysia Valiollah Mohammadi Nasrabadi when the latter called on him on July 10 at the Farmers Organisation Authority Tower.

During the meeting, Mohamad said he informed Nasrabadi that the ministry, through the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (Mardi), is still awaiting positive feedback from Iran for approval to import Arian chickens.

Mohamad also invited Nasrabadi and his delegation to participate in the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture, and Agrotourism Exhibition (Maha) 2024, which will be held in Serdang, Selangor on September 11-22.
