Jordan's state grains buyer secured approximately 60,000 metric tonnes of hard milling wheat from optional origins in an international tender, according to reports from European traders, XM reported.
The purchase, believed to have been made from trading house CHS, involved an estimated cost of US$262.95 per tonne, inclusive of cost and freight (c&f), for shipments scheduled in the latter half of April, as indicated by traders familiar with the matter.
Competing offers in the tender were reported by various trading houses, with prices per tonne c&f as follows: Cargill at US$276.5, Viterra at US$279.5, Nestwise at US$268.8, Cerealcom Dolj at US$292.5, Ameropa at US$263.9, Grainflower at US$277, Buildcom at Us$272, and MC Food at US$274.
Traders anticipate that Jordan will release another tender soon, aiming to procure 120,000 tonnes of wheat. This forthcoming tender is expected to close on February 13, 2024, with shipments sought for the entire months of May and June.
In the previous tender held on January 24, Jordan did not make any purchases despite seeking offers for the same quantity of wheat.
