China VA: Cautious mood impedes sales (week ended Apr 5, 2021)

            

 

In the local market, the transaction prices of VA500 were lower in the range of RMB305-365/kg. VA1000 prices weakened to RMB565/kg.

 
In January and February 2021, China's 3649.2 tonnes VA export volume totalled 1,076.13 tonnes, an increase of 85.8% year-on-year, and the average unit price was up 21.2% to US$58.91/kg. January VA export volume was 550.4 tonnes and February export volume was 525.7 tonnes. VA exports value totalled US$63.4 million, a sharp on-year increase of 125%.

 

In February 2020, due to China's fight against the coronavirus epidemic, post-Chinese New Year resumption of production was delayed and output declined. Nonetheless, overall VA supply was stable during January-February period, and the export volume increased compared with 2020. Exports to Germany were the highest at 391.4 tonnes, followed by the United States at 248.3 tonnes.

 

Meanwhile, China's VA oil imports totaled 165.8 tonnes, higher by 47.2% year-on-year. Imports from Switzerland topped at 95.8 tonnes while those from Germany were at 51.1 tonnes.

 

Vitamin A market will remain soft with feed producers staying prudent and limiting purchases.
