China Tryptophan: Price rally continues (week ended Jan 11, 2021)
With the costs of corn rising tremendously, tryptophan prices increased in tandem over the week. Supplies of tryptophan were tight while producers limited output while overseas demand stayed strong as buyers increased purchases amid concerns of tightening availability.
Transacted prices of local products rose to the range of RMB53.90-62/kg.
Tryptophan producers will continue to lift prices to cover the expanding output expense due to corn costs surge. Robust domestic demand prior to the Chinese New Year, in conjunction with strong overseas sales, will lend support to tryptophan market.
