China Whey: Stable prices, limited availability (week ended Jan 11, 2021)

 

 

Whey availability was limited due to limited import volumes. However, whey market stayed stable while feed producers withheld buying, even though several traders were tempted to lift prices.

 

Price quotes of low-protein whey products remained in the range of RMB8,300-9,000/tonne.

 

Price quotes of US feed-grade whey strengthened to the range of US$750-858/tonne.

 

With soymeal prices soaring, imports limited and freight charges high, whey prices are expected to strengthen in the coming period.
